A packed day in the footsteps of the Savoy Family! Visit the Castello di Rivoli. Today the castle is home to a museum of contemporary art. If you are not into art, visit the impressive Racconigi Castle, instead.
Then explore the royal palace of the Venaria Reale. This magnificent Baroque palace is located just a few kilometers northwest of Turin and is the 2nd largest castle in Italy. Wander through the opulent rooms, gardens and surrounding park.
Crowning the day is the Superga, with gorgeous views over Turin. The basilica is the resting place of many of the Savoy kings.

Stay in the town of Alba, known for its truffles and charming old town. Enjoy the local specialties and explore the surrounding picturesque villages such as Barolo, Monfore d’Alba and La Morra and wine castles such as Grinzane Cavour.

Explore the Maritime Alps and drive to the highest sanctuary in the Alps, Sant’Anna the Vinadio. Hike to the picturesque mountain lakes above the monastery complex.

On day 2 of the road trip, you’ll slowly head towards Cuneo via the old main road through the picturesque Stura Valley. Stop in the lovely villages along the way and, for example, at the Santuario Regina Pacis.
Finally, explore the city of Cuneo with its many arcades, on the popular Via Roma.

Biella and the Piedmont Lakes
See above the 2-day road trip to the Piedmont Lakes. Add a day on the way there and spend it in the beautiful town of Biella.
After exploring the upper old town, head to the monastery complex of Oropa.
Spend the night at Lago d’Orta on the first day. Day 2 & 3 are all about the popular Lake Maggiore and the coastal town of Stresa, as described above.

Aosta Valley and Mont Blanc
Explore the Aosta Valley. At the entrance to the valley stands the impressive fortress of Bard, which you definitely have to visit. Afterwards, the medieval regional capital of Aosta is on the agenda. You should also spend the night here on day 1.
Day 2 in the Aosta Valley takes you to the beautiful mountain landscape, below the highest mountain peak in the Alps.
Courmayeur is a charming alpine resort at the foot of the impressive Mont Blanc. You can take the cable car to the 2700m high Arp viewing platform.
On your way back through the Aosta Valley, you should stop at various castles along the way. Highlights are e.g. the Castello di Fénis, Issogne Castle or Cly Castle.

The 2nd night, I would stay in the coastal town of Sanremo, known for its beautiful beaches and casino. Enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere, beautiful coastline and local Ligurian cuisine.

Piedmont Road Trip – 3 days
Grand tour of the Western Alps
Start your journey with the Sacra di San Michele and the town of Susa in the Susa Valley. At the Mont Cenis Pass you will cross the border into neighboring France.
The pass with its deep blue reservoir and old military ruins is an incredible place to spend the night, especially if you are traveling in a camper.
The next day you will drive through the French Arc valley. In L’Esseillon there are several military fortresses worth seeing, which you can explore on a fantastic hike.
Alternatively, you can drive to the different forts by car. In the evening, you will spend the night in Modane.
On day 3 you drive through the Fréjus tunnel back to Piedmont. Enjoy the picturesque Chisone Valley and visit the Fenestrelle Fortress before heading back to Turin.
